White peacocks are extremely rare and highly sought after and can be seen in full plumage this summer at Fairfields Farm Caravan & Camping Park.
Contrary to popular belief their whiteness comes not from albinism (as they have blue eyes) but from Leucism, which is a genetic mutation passed on a recessive gene which causes lack of pigment in their plumage.
Peacocks have a lifespan of 10 to 25 years, although kept well in captivity they have been known to live up to 50 years!
